| Appraiser Comments: | Sascha Brastoff was one of the most talented designers of the mid 20th century. Brastoff's work was shown at the Museum of Modern Art and advante garde galleries on the East and West coasts of the U.S. His designs are coveted by Moderne affectionados and most were made during the 1950s and 1960s.
The horse was a favorite Brastoff subject and it appeared on various pottery items as well as being made into lamp bases. Your item is a wonderful free standing example and probably made in the early 1960s and technically can be considered a figurine. The signature indicates the horse was designed by Brastoff but made at his factory by one of his assistants. You might want to get the ear repaired. This would improve value. The appraisal is for a Sascha Brastoff horse figurine in very good condition. |
